On April 9, 2026 the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California dismissed every allegation brought by Anthem Blue Cross of California against HaloMD and its co-defendants.
Magistrate Judge Karen E. Scott's 22-page order rejected the lawsuit in its entirety. The court concluded that Anthem's RICO, ERISA, fraud and state law theories, used to challenge No Surprises Act IDR awards, were legally baseless, and that Congress designed the IDR process to be the definitive forum for resolving payment disputes from surprise billing, not a springboard for federal litigation.
